ROSSVILLE, Ind. (WLFI) - The safest way to get to school in Rossville just got safer.

Rossville schools has implemented multiple new safety features on their fleet of school buses.

Beginning with Zonar, a fleet tracking system which helps track where buses are among other stats.

Zonar also assists bus drivers in doing pre and post drive checks.

The Zonar system also has a check-in system to let administrators know if the right kids got on and off the correct bus at the correct stop.

The check-in system also can help identify riders in case of a bus emergency.

"I know who's on the bus because they scanned their cards. I can take a quick count. I have 20 kids on my list I have 20 kids on the bus, okay I'm good. If I'm missing one I can start going through my roster. Who didn't have a card and I can find out much much quicker than I can go through all the other the other steps," said James Hanna, Superintendent of Rossville Schools.

Even more technology has made its way to Rossville buses.

New lights, cameras and stop arms are also being installed.

Signs and stop arms are now fully illuminated so people can see them from much further away.

And new buses added to the fleet have 360 degree cameras that help the driver turn and see kids around the bus.

Other cameras installed help capture video of people ignoring the bus stop arms.

These videos are given to the prosecutor and the proper actions are taken to ensure the driver is charged for their infraction.
