0MATC breaks ground on Advanced Technology Center – News Radio KMAN
Manhattan Area Technical College officially broke ground on the first of four phases as part of their ‘Building HIRE Education’ plan.
The new Advanced Technology Center will replace the inadequate modular units that are currently in use on campus.
MATC President Jim Genandt explained more about this brand new facility.

This expansion will also allow younger students to have greater access to the school’s resources as well.
Increased education
Kansas Board of Regents Vice Chair Carl Ice praised the project and said these advancements will allow local businesses to thrive and encourage others to move to the area as well.

Manhattan Tech Foundation Representative Harry Watts spoke about workforce shortages and the relief the school will help provide once this project is completed.

Genandt said while the first phase of their project has begun, the school still requires support from the community.
Community support
The new facility is slated to be 47,000 square feet. Construction will begin early next year and is anticipated to open in January of 2024.
