Mr. Uwe Goldstein – the Commercial Director of the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWF) on Wednesday, paid a courtesy call on Professor Peter Twumasi – Director General of the National Sport Authority (NSA).

The visit was aimed at briefing the Director General about efforts to lay a foundation for the introduction of the sport in Ghana.

Mr. Goldstein also doubles as the Administration Commission Member - Africa Federation.

Mr. Goldstein said though the sport was a new one and yet to attain an Olympic status, there were prospects that it would be considered at the 2024 Olympic Games in France.

He said Ghana had been given recognition by the IWWF and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to introduce and practice the sport, hence the need to give them the necessary support to grow in Ghana.

According to Mr. Goldstein the international federation was ready to provide equipment for the establishment of the sport in Ghana.

Prof.  Twumasi commended Mr. Godstein for his initiative adding that, his outfit would provide the necessary support for the introduction of the sport in Ghana.

“What you need to do now is to ensure that you go through the necessary processes to formalise the Association in Ghana.

“You must make sure that you go through the necessary registration process at the Registrar-General Department and with the NSA as well, to be given full recognition.

“After these processes your sport would be considered in annual plans and budgetary considerations, which would be presented to the Minister of Youth and Sports and parliament,” he added.

Prof. Twumasi urged the interim leadership of the  Waterski and Wakeboard Association of Ghana to work hard to make the dream a reality.
