The Criminal Intelligence Unit is responsible for the identification of crime trends, series, and patterns for the deployment of resources. The unit also utilizes data analysis and statistics to determine hot spots and provide link analysis and case assistance for investigations. In addition to in-house statistical analysis, Sandy Springs Police also partners with CityProtect for real-time crime analysis information to the public.
Jason McCabe is currently assigned as the Interim Manager of the Criminal Intelligence Unit. He began his career with the City of Sandy Springs in September 2014 as a patrol officer after previously working as a patrol officer in Colorado. Mr. McCabe worked as a patrol officer until 2017 when he was transferred to the Street Crimes Unit as a detective. In 2020, Mr. McCabe was transferred to the Criminal Intelligence Unit as a civilian Crime Analyst, where he worked until being named Interim Manager.

The Technology Unit is responsible for overseeing the department-issued technology equipment and applications, including; radios, body worn cameras, in-car cameras, and laptops, and implementing and maintaining software applications as well as managing Crime Scene investigators are responsible for crime scene investigations, including forensic and crime scene recovery and evidence processing.
Sergeant A. Lazic is currently assigned as the Technology Unit Sergeant. He assists with technology needs in the department and acts as a liaison between the police department, the I.T. Department, and technology vendors. In addition, Sgt. Lazic oversees technical projects, including body cameras, dash cameras, license plate readers, RMS, laptops, mobile, and portable radios. Sgt. Lazic began his law enforcement career with the Fulton County Police Department in 2009. He started with the Sandy Springs Police Department in 2015. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2018 and was assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division. The department created a Technology Innovation position in 2019, and Sgt. Lazic was assigned to this newly created position. Sgt. Lazic received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Saint Leo University.

The Records Unit includes both Records and Permits. Records is responsible for the dissemination of police reports, overseeing the department’s Records Management System (RMS), and completing open records requests. Permits is responsible for permit applications and fingerprints.
Maisha Hammond is the Records Unit Supervisor, she began her career in Law Enforcement with the Gwinnett County Police Department. She held the position of Communications Officer for 911 and Records Clerk in 2015 after relocating from New York City. Maisha joined us at the Sandy Springs Police Department in 2017 and worked in both Records and Permits; before taking the position of Records Supervisor. Before working in Law Enforcement, Maisha was employed by JP Morgan Chase for 12 years.

The Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Unit is responsible for maintaining Georgia Crime Information Center records and training.
Candace Wright is the GCIC TAC. Candace began her career at Glynn/Brunswick E911 in 2011 as a 911 Emergency Dispatcher. There she gained knowledge of how to operate GCIC/NCIC systems. Candace then moved to Henry County in 2012 where she continued to expand her knowledge and pursuit in law enforcement. After working for Henry County E911 for 2 years, she accepted a GCIC Specialist position with the Sandy Springs Police Department. While working at the Sandy Springs Police Department, she has held the position of Assistant TAC and was later promoted to the Agency TAC/ Supervisor of GCIC.
