Huawei’s tech is in high demand.

It was recently revealed that the Shenzhen-based technology giant experiences around one million cyber attacks on a daily basis. According to Kyodo News, Senior Vice President John Suffolk mentioned the exceedingly high cyber attack rate, which may be aimed at stealing the company’s coveted 5G technology.

As the head of cybersecurity, Suffolk said some of Huawei’s ‘old-type computers’ have been affected by the attacks, while they still have not identified the sources of those cyberattacks. Suffolk didn’t attribute the attacks to any particular country or business competitor, only noting that the attacks included stealing confidential information by sending computer viruses via email, Kyodo news reported.

Last month, the company claimed that the US government has launched “cyberattacks to infiltrate Huawei’s intranet and internal information systems,” among other accusations, including starting investigations based on false media reports and leveraging its position as a world leader to lobby other governments to ban Huawei products.

Huawei has positioned itself as a strong contender in the 5G race, acquiring many patents for the next-generation technology and operating in about 170 nations and regions. And, despite pressure from the US, Huawei has brought in over 50 commercial 5G contracts around the world, according to CNBC.
