How Much is Too Much: Exploring Ethics and Privacy in Modern Tech?

iSpeech.org

With tech companies collecting and analyzing more data than ever before, how are ‘big data’ policies addressing questions of security, privacy, and ethics?

From cybersecurity threats and online scams to social manipulation and disparities in access, we are grappling with how to manage the risks of technology so that their benefits outweigh their potential harm. To build a future of responsible innovation, we must consider inherent ethical challenges in emerging technologies like machine learning, social media algorithms, and artificial intelligence.

Join The Franklin Institute’s Chief Bioscientist Dr. Jayatri Das as she sits down with Dr. Pablo Molina, Assistant Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Drexel University, for a compelling discussion of the ongoing questions around privacy and ethics in the Information Age.

This program will help us go deeper than the headlines to understand the underlying ethical challenges behind emerging tech, the human decisions involved, and practical advice to becoming smarter digital citizens.

As Chief Information Security officer at Drexel University, Molina is charged with planning and implementing cybersecurity policy across the university. Molina also serves as Executive Director of the International Applied Ethics and Technology Association and as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University where he teaches graduate courses in ethics and technology in the field of information security.
