Homeland Security Morale, Cybersecurity Targeted by Lawmakers

The Department of Homeland Security would make broad efforts to address low morale in its workforce and expand cybersecurity programs under a bipartisan measure passed by House lawmakers.

The leaders of the House Homeland Security Committee packaged a range of their panel’s bipartisan proposals into the National Defense Authorization Act, passed 316-113 on Thursday. The amendment, from Reps. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) and John Katko (R-N.Y.), would address longstanding employee morale issues, new cyber threats, and a variety of aviation security priorities.
