Google Gets Win in `Right to Be Forgotten’ Case in Spain

In a victory for Google, Spain’s National Court found that public interest in an accused sex offender’s case trumped his right to be forgotten online.

The court upheld Google’s appeal against a 2017 Spanish Data Protection Agency resolution that ordered removal of eight “obsolete” news articles about a psychologist who faced three charges of sexual abuse but who was ultimately acquitted.





There is “a legitimate interest of Internet users to have access to this information,” which had been published by local media and continued to be necessary for the purposes for which it was originally collected, the court said March...
