A manufacturer of gas delivery and vacuum technology solutions plans to add a third U.S. facility in suburban Austin, Texas, local economic development officials announced.

The Pflugerville City Council approved an agreement between the Pflugerville Community Development Corp. (PCDC) and MDC Vacuum Products that will facilitate the addition of a new MDC location in the city.

Pflugerville officials said the expansion would provide “a local high-tech resource” for other manufacturers in the area.

“The company expands the local supply chain with cutting-edge vacuum science, materials fabrication, and proprietary ceramic-to-metal sealing technology, allowing our local companies to compete globally, and produce locally,” PCDC Executive Director Amy Madison said in the announcement.

Under the agreement, MDC would receive a $250,000 grant provided it meets the capital investment goal of $4.45 million and hiring goal of 90 new full-time jobs. The total includes a $75,000 relocation grant in the first year — if MDC spends $650,000 and relocates 20 jobs during that time frame — and a jobs grant of up to $175,000 over five years.

MDC, based in Hayward, California, operates another facility in Florida as well as sites in the U.K. and Taiwan. Company officials said the Pflugerville location would initially focus on “high-purity weldments for gas and fluid delivery.” MDC hopes to serve nearby companies in the aerospace, semiconductor, energy, food processing, and research and life sciences sectors.

“The MDC team has been working very closely with the PCDC to set up operations, and we look forward to collaborating to contribute to Pflugerville’s growth and prosperity as MDC accelerates its expansion in the region,” said MDC CEO David Dutton.
