Supermodel Gigi Hadid has distanced herself from a series of racist and antisemitic messages after her Twitter account was apparently hacked.
The 24-year-old starâs timeline was flooded with offensive posts on Friday night after a security breach.
Among the racially-charged tweets included the phrases âI wish Germany won WWIIâ and the statement âHitler did nothing wrongâ.

The hacker used the word ân****râ several times and also called Donald Trump the best president ever.
In a bid to convince her 9.2million followers she was responsible, the hacker shared a purported Twitter direct message exchange between Ms Hadid and Kendall Jenner dating back to June 2013.
A number of the tweets also asked her followers to follow another user, @grinchsquad13.
Although the tweets have since been deleted and Ms Hadid was able to regain control of her account, she used her Instagram to clear up any confusion, writing, âHope it goes without saying ... my Twitter was hacked.â
Gigi made sure to clear up any confusion about the offensive tweets shared on her verified Twitter account. (GigiHadid/Instagram)
She also thanked her fans for not calling her character into question.
âThanks for rallying for me,â she said. âJokeâs on the hacker ... I donât use Twitter DMâs.â
Although this proved to be a hoax, this is not the first time the model has been faced with a racist controversy.
In February 2017, Ms Hadid was accused of racism after a video shared on Instagram Stories showed her pulling her eyes back while holding up a cookie in the shape of Buddha.Â
She subsequently issued an apology over the post on the popular Chinese social networking site Weibo.
âIt hurts me to hurt anyone. I want you all to know that it was never my intent to offend anyone through my actions and I sincerely apologise to those who were hurt or felt let down by me,â she said at the time.
