Germany Places New Demands On Facebook

According to a report by CNN Business, on Thursday, Germany's antitrust office ruled that Facebook is abusing its virtual monopoly in social media by combining data from Instagram, WhatsApp and third party websites. The office accused Facebook of then using the data to build a unique profile about each user to gain more market power. CNN Business reports that in the future, Facebook will be required to ask German users' explicit consent before collecting and combining such data.
