General password and encryption questions
Hi
I am on Windows 7 (on a desktop), and back up regularly both various free cloud services (one drive, dropbox, mega, google drive), as well as WD My Passport Ultra.
I am modestly security conscious, but thought being safer is a good idea. Particularly, what if someone stole by desktop or my Passport ultra with my files.
1. Is it easy to break the computer password if I lock it.
2. I would prefer not to lock it regularly (since I forget!), and instead lock certain folders - is one app recommended by most of you.
3. As to clouds, it seems as if Mega is good for encryption, so I can put sensitive files there. I am also trying Sync but it doesn't seem to be working well so far. Is there another recommendation
4. I have heard password protecting a Word document is not very safe, but of course better than nothing. Is that true? It seems odd to me that both dropbox and My Passport update changes on the password protected document without having the password.
5. Following up on the last, if a folder is password protected, do cloud services update changes in them - or is that case by case.
