GenCyber Teacher Training Cybersecurity Academy at York College In 2021, York College CUNY was awarded the National Security Agency (NSA), and National Science Foundation (NSF)’s funded GenCyber Program of $150,000. This prestigious award is the only grant of its nature in the entire New York City for this cycle period. The program boast participants from over 37 states. The GenCyber Teacher Training Cybersecurity Academy, hosted at York College, offers middle-school and high-school STEM teachers a professional development program that incorporates cybersecurity concepts into classrooms and extracurriculars.

York’s GenCyber Camp provides the opportunity for teachers to learn about cybersecurity concepts, technology, the First Principles and the GenCyber Concepts. Fun educational games and activities are embedded in our curriculum that uses learner-centred, problem-based, and peer-assisted learning approaches to engage and empower our camp participants. The camp sessions for middle-school and high-school teachers will be held at the York campus in July 2022. The camp is led by Dr. Fenio Annansingh-Jamieson (Program Director), Dr. Thitima Srivatanakul (Lead Instructor, PI), Dr. Xin Bai (Instructional Design Expert and Lead Learning Specialist), and Interim Provost Dr. Derrick Brazill.
