PETALING JAYA: Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad will make a police report on Monday (May 6) morning after his Telegram account was hacked.

Khalid told Star Online that he would be making the report in Putrajaya.

Earlier, Khalid had released a statement confirming that his Telegram account had been hacked.

“Irresponsible parties have tried and are still using the account to fool people in attempts to get their money,” he had said.

He urged people to ignore any attempts by anyone who used his Telegram account to scam them.

Malaysiakini had earlier reported that a hacker had taken control of Khalid’s Telegram account and used it to try and scam one of its journalists.

According to "Khalid", he had spoken to Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) CEO Datuk Sabin Samitah, who had said that the journalist was under investigation and that his assets would be frozen.

The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) had previously warned the public to be wary of a scam, using the name of its CEO.

The syndicates use social media platforms to highlight alleged "tax compliance issues" faced by the victim, and then offer to help overcome these problems for a fee.

LHDN said that there were those who used its CEO's name to threaten taxpayers to settle their "outstanding balance" owed to LHDN through their private accounts.
