French television network TV5Monde said Wednesday it had been hacked by individuals claiming to belong to the Islamic State (IS) group, who brought television broadcasts to a halt and hijacked its websites and social networks.
TV5Monde’s Director General Yves Bigot told FRANCE 24 that the attack appeared to have targeted the network because it has such an international reach, being broadcast in more than 200 countries.
