Fake news? President Donald Trump is subject of new investigation … for hacked golf scores

President Donald Trump in facing a new investigation, and it has nothing to do with Russia, China or Iran.

GolfWeek Magazine reports the US Golf Association is looking into the possibility Trump’s handicap has been hacked.

Per the New York Post, the investigation began after four triple-digit scores were entered under Trump’s handicap on Friday. The president was traveling from New York to Washington on Friday.

“We have become aware of reports in the media questioning recent scores posted on President Trump’s Gold Handicap and Information Network account,” said USGA spokesman Craig Annis. “As we dug into the data it appears someone has erroneously posted a number of scores on behalf of the GHIN user,” Annis said. “We are taking corrective action to remove the scores and partnering with our allied golf associations, and their member clubs, to determine the origin of the issue.”

According to GolfWeek Magazine, the following scores were entered under Trump’s name: 101, 100, 108 and 102. Per the report, the fake scores were tied to the following courses: Trump National New York, Trump International West Palm Beach, and Cochise Course at Desert Mountain in Arizona.

The New York Post reports Trump has golfed more than 170 times since his induction in 2017.

GolfWeek Magazine reports Trump maintains “an index of 2.8, a handicap that is widely regarded as excessively flattering.” Both in public and private life, Trump has faced accusations he plays loose with rules on the golf course.

Trump’s love of golf is no secret. He owns 17 golf courses, including three in New Jersey: Trump National in Bedminster, Trump National in Colts Neck and Trump National in Philadelphia (which actually is in Pine Hill).
