F5 adds cybersecurity vet to board; Icertis hires chief strategy officer; and more – GeekWire

Marianne Budnik joined the board of directors of Seattle-based application security and delivery giant F5.

Budnik is currently chief marketing officer for Talon Cyber Security, and held the same role at CrowdStrike and CyberArk. She’s also held leadership roles at SimpliVity, Acme Packet, CA Technologies, and EMC Corporation.

“Marianne’s leadership in high-growth cybersecurity, networking and application management organizations of scale will add valuable expertise and perspective to our board,” said board chair Alan Higginson in a statement.





F5 reported $674 million in revenue for the third quarter, up 4% year-over-year. The company’s stock is down more than 40% this year.

Other key personnel changes across the Pacific Northwest tech industry:

  • Jilinda Crowley is now chief financial officer of MagniX, the Everett, Wash.-based electric aircraft engine builder. She was previously chief financial officer at Electra.aero and spent 14 years in various roles at Rolls-Royce.
  • Deanna Lanier, former executive at Infor and Adobe, joined Icertis as chief strategy officer, a newly created role at the Bellevue, Wash.-based contract software company.
  • David Marten left his position as U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell’s legislative director to become executive vice president of Elevate Government Affairs. Marten will be based in Seattle for the Washington D.C. firm, whose clients include Microsoft and the Port of Seattle, according to Politico.
  • Rebecca Heard is the first chief marketing officer at outdoor retail and experiences company Evo. She was promoted from vice president of brand, marketing and e-commerce.
  • Joan Palmiter Bajorek, founder and former CEO of Seattle-based nonprofit Women in Voice, is now vice president of product research at Denver-based conversational AI startup OneReach.ai.
  • Seattle-based global health nonprofit PATH added Sylvana Q. Sinha, CEO of Dhaka, Bangladesh-based Praava Health, to its board of directors.
