In 2010 the world learned of Stuxnet, a malware attack on the Iranian nuclear facility that caused substantial damage to their nuclear program. The malware was allegedly the work of two nations states and developed as a cyberweapon.
Since then, attacks like Blackenergy, Industroyer or infamous Wannacry have shown us the threat is real.
