Even if it's not a huge purchase, we think it was good to see that Matthew Ocko, a Embark Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:EMBK) insider, recently shelled out US$96k to buy stock, at US$9.64 per share. While that isn't the hugest buy, it actually boosted their shareholding by 100%, which is good to see.

Embark Technology Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent purchase by Matthew Ocko was the biggest purchase of Embark Technology shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$8.88). While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. It is encouraging to see an insider paid above the current price for shares, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels. Matthew Ocko was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.

Does Embark Technology Boast High Insider Ownership?

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Embark Technology insiders own about US$40m worth of shares. That equates to 20% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Embark Technology Insiders?

The recent insider purchase is heartening. And the longer term insider transactions also give us confidence. But we don't feel the same about the fact the company is making losses.
