Text to Speech

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (April 19, 2022)  – Stevens Institute of Technology men's basketball graduate student Alec DiPietrantonio earned First Team Division III All-Met accolades for his stellar play on the court this season, the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association announced Tuesday.

The recognition is the latest honor for DiPietrantonio, who was a First Team All-MAC Freedom selection and a Second Team All-Region IV selection by both D3Hoops and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. It is DiPietrantonio's first career All-Met recognition.

"Alec has worked so hard over the years and I couldn't be happier for all of his success," head coach Bobby Hurley said. "He had a terrific season and was our leader on both ends of the floor. He has been a big part of our success and this honor is well deserved."

DiPietrantonio led the Ducks in scoring (14.0) and rebounding (10.3), while ranking second in blocks (1.2). He shot a career-best 53.6% from the floor and posted 13 double-doubles. He is one of a handful of Ducks to finish the season averaging a double-double. The Mount Laurel, New Jersey native finished 42nd in the country in rebounds per game and placed 88th in field-goal percentage.

DiPietrantonio had 20 games where he scored in double figures and 17 where he pulled down double-digit rebounds. He netted a season-high 25 points against nationally-ranked Swarthmore and had a season-high 20 boards in a victory over Baruch. He averaged 13.8 points on 50% shooting, while pulling down 7.2 rebounds per game, during the postseason as the Ducks won three games to win their second MAC Freedom championship and then toppled Mount Union in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

DiPietrantonio is the 13th player in program history to earn All-Met honors.
