Wild River Comics' Daughters of Albion, a new futuristic series combining elements of magic and technology, is launching a Kickstarter campaign.
CBR can exclusively real that Wild River Comics has launched a new Kickstarter campaign for Daughters of Albion #1, which comes from co-creators Denis Phan and Trevor Jayakody, artist Matt Timson, colorist Marco Lesko, letterer Jim Campbell and editor Martin Eden. The issue is set in the future and follows a young programmer, Hashani, and her friends as they explore the vast secrets the world they're living in holds. Plagued by cryptic dreams of an age-old conspiracy, Hashani must stop her city from an ancient threat as a mysterious murderer runs rampant. The synopsis reads, "Daughters of Albion #1 introduces readers to an alternate London where magic and technology co-exist. When cyberpunk hacker Hashani discovers a magical amulet dropped by two strange beings, she and her friends start to uncover the mysteries of Albion, which has been simmering beneath the surface all along." Preview pages for the issue, which you can view below, additionally show Hashani accompanied by a cybernetic companion who assists her in avoiding oncoming robotic threats.
"As soon as I met the team and heard what they had planned, I wanted to be a part of it," Eden said. "Daughters of Albion is just the beginning, and I look forward to introducing readers to this new world we're creating." Jayakody agreed, "Our plans for Wild River are quite ambitious, which is why I'm so proud to be launching this new range. The whole team are giving it their all, and we're busily working away on other titles."
Wild River Comics is a new, London-based comics studio that has had a presence at United Kingdom comic-cons over the past six months. Daughters of Albion #1 marks the first title that the publisher will release. "This is an exciting time for Wild River Comics, and we're glad to finally share some of what we've been working on," Phan said.
Timson has done artwork for a number of comic titles, including Top Cow's Impaler, Image Comics' Popgun and Gutsville and British Small Press Comics' Solar Wind, The End is Night and FutureQuake, among others.
