Darktrace says business demand is high for AI-based proactive cybersecurity

In the midst of data breaches impacting Australia, cybersecurity provider Darktrace says it is receiving strong demand from the market for its new Darktrace Prevent product family as organisations seek to proactively prevent cyber attacks, rather than waiting for breaches to happen.

Darktrace further says since Prevent became generally available in August 2022 it has seen the longest list of customer opt-ins than for any other Darktrace product launch ever.

Additionally, Darktrace-commissioned research from International Data Corporation (IDC) shows almost two-thirds of organisations do not have high confidence in identifying their greatest weaknesses or vulnerabilities, leaving them exposed to attack. 81% of organisations stated artificial intelligence (AI) insights would help them to automate their security posture.

As well as high-profile data breaches in Australia the research comes on the back of global economic losses from cybercrime estimated at six trillion dollars, and forecast to rise $US 10.5 trillion worldwide by 2025.

Darktrace says its Prevent product offers a predictive and preventative approach to tackling cyber threats and business risks because its Ai is trained to think like an attacker. It identifies pathways to an organisation's most critical assets from both inside and outside.

Customers taking up Prevent come from a wide range of industries including construction, credit unions, BioTech, real estate, housing, manufacturing and distribution, and medical, among others.

Darktrace CEO Poppy Gustafsson said, “The potential of Prevent is clear as we see it reflected in the longest list of customer opt-ins for any product launched in Darktrace’s history. This technology is making the job of the attacker much harder as it arms security teams with unprecedented, AI-powered tools, which can pre-empt even the most complex cyber-attacks. It represents a fundamental shift in cyber-security, putting security teams on the front foot as they seek to protect their organisations and build cyber resilience.”

IDC research director Chris Kissel said, “As organisations contend with an increasingly complex set of cyber security challenges, a reactive approach does not go far enough. CISOs are starting to look at cyber security just like any other operational risk and are turning to a more proactive approach that pre-empts cyber-attacks before they happen, rather than waiting to be breached. It is clear that organisations must adopt a preventative approach and will be increasingly reliant on AI to do so.”

Former United Kingdom home secretary and member of Darktrace's advisory board Amber Rudd said, “Cyber security risks are one of the most pressing but least well-understood risks organisations face today. As the geopolitical landscape becomes more fractious and the world continues on a path of rapid digital transformation, businesses are facing a greater, more complex set of cybersecurity challenges than ever before – and these are constantly evolving. The predicted global economic losses resulting from cyber disruption are significant. Being proactive requires organisations to understand what their weaknesses are and proactively address these before attackers take advantage. It's exciting to see how Darktrace PREVENT can help organisations to build their cyber resilience in the face of this evolving landscape and against a backdrop of global economic uncertainty.”

ENABLE HYBRID CLOUD & REDUCE NETWORK LATENCY WHITEPAPER

Hybrid cloud promises to bring together the best of both worlds enabling businesses to combine the scalability and cost-effectiveness of the cloud with the performance and control that you can get from your on-premise infrastructure.

Reducing WAN latency is one of the biggest issues with hybrid cloud performance. Taking advantage of compression and data deduplication can reduce your network latency.

Research firm, Markets and Markets, predicted that the hybrid cloud market size is expected to grow from US$38.27 billion in 2017 to US$97.64 billion by 2023.

Colocation facilities provide many of the benefits of having your servers in the cloud while still maintaining physical control of your systems.

Cloud adjacency provided by colocation facilities can enable you to leverage their low latency high bandwidth connections to the cloud as well as providing a solid connection back to your on-premises corporate network.
