CHENNAI: MDMK on Thursday expressed shock over the hacking of a computer in the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu.
The party asked the Centre to shut down the nuclear power plant permanently to prevent any major tragedy that could affect the lives of large number of people in Tamil Nadu.
A resolution to that effect was passed at a meeting of the MDMK district secretaries held here on Thursday.
The resolution recalled several blips in the functioning of the nuclear power plant in the past.
Recalling that MDMK general secretary Vaiko had opposed the setting up of the nuclear power plant in the state from the beginning, the resolution expressed concern over the plant authorities’ decision to dump the nuclear waste at the site itself.
