We are in the middle of a worldwide cyber war that started in 2007, but nobody seems to worry about it.
Ground Zero is the tiny Baltic state of Estonia. Here, the game of war changed overnight. The trigger was a politically-motivated attack against the Estonian government, rumoured to have been led by Russia as a retaliatory strike for the so-called defamation of a Soviet World War II memorial.
The documentary worldwide distributed by Sky | Vision looks at the stage where the first cyber war in history was set and meets the people who were in charge at the time: from the Estonian government and the former spies and scientists, to the major IT experts working for global leading telecommunication enterprises. It underlines what Snowden’s documents disclosed – the advanced infection of internationally active hardware and operating systems which can even affect private computers. The film shows in an impressive way how easily the verge of collapse could be brought on in the streets and proves how easily any one of us can get hacked.
