Cyber warfare cannot stand alone, argues Israeli cybersecurity expert
The West is on heightened alert for cyber attacks from Russia, but according to Israel Defense Forces Brig. Gen. Doron Tamir (Ret.), a founding member of Israel’s National Cyber Directorate, cyber attacks don’t win wars.
- Tamir said the war in Ukraine demonstrates that “boots on the ground” still determine war outcomes and although cyber attacks can be influential, they do not stand alone.
- One dilemma in disrupting an opponent’s networks is that it diminishes a country’s ability to monitor the adversary’s communications, said Tamir.
- He said psychological warfare is a major factor from both sides of the Russia-Ukraine war and strongly affects morale.
