Ranging from Lounge over Breakbeat and Triphop to just experimental tunes, it's a neverending process of musical evolution, influenced by almost everything I come across every day - people I meet, sounds I hear, things I see - it all somewhat sums up somewhere in my music.

Chill Carrier Update 03/2012 - New Album "Back In The Days"

Hi everyone,

it is been a while since the last Chill Carrier update and I hope that everything goes well for you and that you’re enjoying the very spring-like weather as much as I do these days over here in this small east-german town. That is, of course, if it is spring that is up ahead where you live and not autumn. 🙂
Anyway, the reason why I’m writing to you is a new album full of music: it is titled "Back In The Days" and it is dedicated to a time whose music was and still is a big influence to my own songs, the 80s. So what awaits you with the new album is not always quite and calm but also energetic and pop-like at times, a mixture of new and old things I really do like to listen to and to use in music myself. Especially the amazing sounds of retro synthesizers like the one from the Roland Juno series.

I’m looking forward to any feedback and would also like to use the moment to thank each and every one of you again for all your continuing support. Some of you have been there since the very first beginning and I’m really grateful for all of your input!
Furthermore I would like to thank all the anonymous donaters who unfortunately I have no opportunity to thank personally due to the lack of any contact-information. Your donations, as well of course as any donation, are very much appreciated and really do help me with continuing making music, a big thank you to all of you!

As always I’m full of ideas on how to evolve the project a bit further, and even while some ideas might take quite a while to come to life (I remember my soundtrack-album "The Movement", which is not forgotten at all, but I also did not continue writing the book it belongs to due to several reasons), I’m planning on a few new things within the next months.
First of all I’m trying to take the music one step further and create some nice music videos which will be uploaded to the projects YouTube channel under www.youtube.com/chillcarrier . The channel is yet not much filled but if you submit to it you will be the first to see anything new happening in the next weeks. 🙂
Secondly, which might be a more longterm thingie, I’m trying to take my music just another step further and create a Chill Carrier live-act, since I do like making music on my very own, but nothing beats real live sound tweakings and really making music for the moment. This also of course involves trying to set-up some live-events to maybe also meet some of you, if you like to of course. 🙂
The third planned thing will be at least one more album coming out this year, probably two, but I can’t promise it yet, as it is, as always, pretty much depending on how things go in my life.

Oh and there is already more music by me out there since I also did some remixes within the last months (as for graciellita, Pierre-Marie Coedes, Ira Atari or Siberian Fastfood) and, due to my lack of patience, some previews to upcoming songs.

By the way, two days ago I came to know that Christian Dior used one of my old dance-ish tunes "Sun Chaser" from the c. bass t.n. project for his late pret-a-porter Autumn/Winter 2012-2013. That was quite a surprise and weird/fun to watch those models walking to my song. 🙂 You can read all about it on Facebook if you like to, there is no need to have an account since all news can be read by everyone.

I don’t know if anyone of the Jamendo-staff gets this newsletter but I just gotta say I still really love the portal, the concept still is amazing and I never came along any other portal within the last 10 years, that had such an amount of amazing users and great musicians combined under one virtual roof. I’m aware that many users tend to complain and to leave over several reasons but I for myself never had any bigger problems and I really do like it here. So any albums I release in the future will most certainly continue to be available right here at Jamendo first and for free download - even while people keep asking me why I do it for free, but the answer is easy: I just want my music to be heard.

Having said that I would like to ask you one final question and you can, only if you like to, answer me on which ever way you want: do you have a favorite Chill Carrier song or album so far?

Hallo allerseits,

es ist ein Weilchen her seit dem letzten Chill Carrier Update und ich hoffe euch geht es gut und ihr habt derzeit genauso viel Spaß an den frühlingshaften Temperaturen wie ich hier im schönen Chemnitz. 🙂
Warum ich euch schreibe: es gibt endlich mal wieder ein neues Album, es heißt "Back In The Days" und ist diesmal einer Zeit gewidmet, deren Musik mich seit jeher beeinflusst hat und es auch immernoch tut, den 80ern. Daher sind die Songs nicht ganz so ruhig wie auf anderen Alben, sondern auch gern mal etwas lauter und scheller, mal eine Mischung aus aus all dem Neuen und Alten, was mir gefällt - was besonders auf so wunderbare Retro-Synthesizer der Zeit zutrifft, wie zum Beispiel die der Roland Juno-Serie.

Was das Projekt betrifft hab ich eigentlich immer den Kopf voller Ideen, und manche davon scheinen auch gern mal unterzugehen (wie das geplante Soundtrack-Album “The Movement”, ich schreibe nur seit ner kleinen Ewigkeit schon nicht mehr an dem Buch weiter, zu dem es der Soundtrack wird), dennoch hab ich dieses Jahr noch ein paar Sachen vor:

Da wäre zum einen mal ein paar vernünftige Musikvideos zu Chill Carrier Songs zu drehen, die werden dann auf dem noch etwas jungfräulichen YouTube-Channel www.youtube.com/chillcarrier landen, und ich denke das eine oder andere Videospecial drumherum wird auch nicht ausbleiben. Abonniert den Kanal einfach wenn ihr möchtet, dann bleibt ihr auf dem Laufenden. 🙂

Als Zweites plane ich, auf längere Sicht, einen Chill Carrier Live-Act aufzubauen, denn im stillen Kämmerchen Tracks basteln ist zwar schön und gut, aber ich schaff es beispielsweise nicht mal im Supermarkt die Finger ruhig zu halten und nicht irgendwelche Beats auf irgendwelche Melonen (das Obst) zu trommeln. Musik für den Moment zu machen ist einfach was anderes und der Gedanke reizt mich schon geraume Zeit. Wäre vermutlich auch ne klasse Gelegenheit mal einige von Euch persönlich kennenzulernen. 🙂

Tja und last-but-not-least möchte ich dieses Jahr natürlich noch ein paar Alben basteln, eines kommt auf jeden Fall noch, alle weiteren sind immer etwas von meinen aktuellen Lebensumständen abhängig, aber ohne Musik kann ich sowieso nicht, irgendwie wird es also auch immer was geben. 😉

Ach, weil ich es gerade schreibe: außer den Releases auf Jamendo gibt es auch immer einiges an Chill Carrier Remixen für andere Künstler (wie zum Beispiel für graciellita, Pierre-Marie Coedes, Ira Atari oder Siberian Fastfood) oder auch kleine Geschmacksproben von kommenden Alben.
Wenn ihr Lust habt da auf dem Laufenden zu bleiben, ist das relativ einfach, ihr habt die folgenden drei Möglichkeiten:

Mir ist übrigens vor zwei Tagen aufgefallen, dass Christian Dior einen alten Song von meinem c.bass.t.n.-Projekt für seine letzte Pret-A-Porter Herbst/winter 2012/2013 verwendet hat. Das war vielleicht ne Überraschung, und dazu dann noch die Models zu dem Song auf dem Laufsteg zu sehen, lustig und eigenartig zugleich, hehe. Mehr darüber gibt es in der News bei Facebook wenn ihr Interesse habt. 🙂

So, und weil ich das grad mal noch loswerden möchte: ich bin jetzt seit etwa dreieinhalb Jahren bei Jamendo und finde nach wie vor, dass es ein hammergeiles Portal ist, man möge mir den Ausdruck verzeihen. Das liegt hier finde ich vor allem an der Community und an dem enormen Pool an kreativen Köpfen. Ich selber hatte bisher auch noch keine nennenswerten Probleme mit der Seite oder irgendwas und irgendwie ist es schon schade zu sehen, dass einige User da frustgeladen der Seite ihren Rücken kehren. Jedenfalls wird es auch weiterhin alle Chill Carrier Alben immer zuerst hier geben, selbstredend auch wie gehabt kostenlos - wobei ich immer mal wieder gfragt werde warum ich das mache, und die Antwort ist ganz einfach: ich möchte an allererster Stelle, dass meine Musik gehört wird.
Daher, wenn sie euch gefällt, bitte ich euch lediglich, sie etwas zu verbreiten, oder bei der Verwendung in euren privaten Videos oder Podcasts darauf zu achten, dass ihr das Projekt kurz irgendwo erwähnt, danke.
