Centre for the Digital Child studies impact of technology on children – The Science Show

iSpeech

How does technology impact our children? Does it help them learn? Is it harmful? Should it be limited? Unlike older adults, today’s children are growing up with technology. The University of Wollongong has opened a purpose-built facility, the Australian Centre for the Digital child. Families are encouraged to visit any time. It is a museum, a play space, an area for children to explore. And it is a research facility. Connecting with researchers around Australia and abroad, the centre will look at the impact of technology on children, how they respond and how they learn. 3,000 families will be part of a research program investigating children’s digital experiences.
