Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified (2012)

On Call of Duty, I mainly worked on the cinematics throughout the entire game. This includes the "breach through a door" sequences, which were just specialized cinematics. There was no time or budget to mocap new cinematics for the game, so they were all created from scratch using a combination of re-purposed mocap data and hand-keyed animation.

I created all of these cinematics. All player and prop animations were hand-keyed. All other characters were mostly mocap which was re-purposed from CoD assets (unless otherwise noted below).

The picture-in-picture shows the scenes directly from Maya.

COD 2
This was a tricky one. We wanted the player to have the opportunity to shoot Menendez (the guy that kicks the door open). This is actually two cinematics with a tiny slice of gameplay between them. In this window, the player needs to shoot him or else they would be killed. You will notice that the layout is all animated in "real" time. The "slowdown" is all done in-game and therefore not represented in the Maya file.

The kid in the back of the white pickup truck was all hand-keyed, along with the truck itself.

COD 5
This is similar to the COD 2 cinematic above. It is two cinematics with a small gameplay window between them. The player needs to shoot these two guys to trigger the "jump off the balcony" cinematic. If they do not, the bomb explodes, killing everyone. The "slowdown" is all done in-game and therefore not represented in the Maya file.
