Brighton Police Department rolls out new technology for community to provide feedback

Chief Catholdi said as we continue to see a spike in violence, being in tune with the town is a top priority.

“We did a community survey our first one in 25 years that got blasted out far and wide and a lot some of the themes that came back from that was, say for example, how do we handle mental health calls for service and what we found out by looking at the responses there was a lot of "I don't know" how we handle responses to mental health calls,” Catholdi said. “Okay, that's because a person may have never had an interaction with Brighton Police, so this will provide direct feedback.”

This new tool is called CueHit, and the way it works is officers will be giving out business cards or victims' rights cards with a QR code on it. All you have to do is scan the QR code with your smartphone, open the link, fill out the survey and you can leave feedback for the chief and other officers.

“This is just more a direct way to let the officers know how they're performing and we want to provide the highest level of service that we can and I think this is a great opportunity to do that,” Catholdi said.

He said they've always had a board full of cards where people send letters to the office, but this way, anyone can send a comment without leaving their home.

As of now, you won't be able to report any type of emergency, criminal activity or make a formal complaint.

“No matter where you go, it could be a fast-food restaurant, a retail establishment, there's QR’s on everything to provide feedback,” Catholdi said.
