Emerged yet another case of Android applications and games full of malicious files and downloaded by more than 8 million users from Google Play.

Apparently, it has happened again: more than eight million unaware Android users have downloaded dozens of applications full of malicious adware files from Google Play, disguised as an app to retouch photos and games.

To discover Trend Micro, a company that deals with computer security. There are more than 85 malicious applications and they have all been removed from the Google digital store.

According to one of the researchers, these applications were particularly refined in their operation and therefore difficult to identify. Apart from opening hard-to-avoid advertisements, they used unique techniques based on user behavior and timed activations.

Essentially the applications launched advertisements for the whole screen and the user was obliged to look at them for their entire duration before they could be closed or returned to the application.

The system made it so that users didn’t see the same advertisement too frequently, while application developers could configure them remotely to show advertisements more often. Among the applications involved, there are some very popular ones like Super Selfie Camera, Cos Camera, Pop Camera, and One Stroke Line Puzzle.
