Utah Gov. Spencer Cox has nominated former Oracle executive Alan Fuller as the new chief information officer for the Department of Technology Services.

Fuller brings a background in the private sector, most recently working as the senior director of business intelligence for Oracle Application Labs since 2014. His experience in this role includes leadership on a myriad projects, such as the design and development of the company’s data warehouse and a portfolio of projects using agile development methodologies.

“His knowledge and experience as a tech executive will lead DTS into a new era of user-focused platforms for the public and high-level technology services for our valued state employees,” Cox said in a press release.

The nomination follows the January departure of former CIO Mike Hussey, who was appointed by former Gov. Gary Herbert on October 2015.

Fuller graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in economics, and went on to receive an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his current position at Oracle Application Labs, he has worked at Siebel Systems, the National Association of Securities Dealers, Evergreen International Airlines and IBM.

Gov. Cox said that Fuller “will bring a spirit of innovation and superior management skills to the state’s technology team.”

This position requires confirmation by the Utah state Senate.
