Additional construction slated for Westmoreland Technology Park in Hempfield

A Pittsburgh-area developer said it will increase its presence in Westmoreland County with plans for an industrial building and warehouse on nearly 15 acres at an industrial park in Hempfield.

Westmoreland commissioners, acting as the county’s Industrial Development Corp., approved a deal to sell the parcel at the Westmoreland Technology Park II in Hempfield to Al. Neyer LLC, which last year purchased a similar-sized property in the same complex and is building a larger facility at another county industrial park in Sewickley Township.

The company agreed to pay $887,400 and holds a six-month option to complete the transaction.

Brandon Snyder, vice president of Al. Neyer in Pittsburgh, said the company expects to break ground on the new facility in July. The project is expected to accommodate more than 150 employees once it is leased, officials said.

“We recognize there is a large user base that has been underserved by new construction. Westmoreland County, and particularly Hempfield, has a great foundation, turnpike access and an abundant workforce,” Snyder said.

Al. Neyer is finishing construction of a 150,000-square-foot building across the street at the Westmoreland Technology Park. It expects to have that facility ready to lease by April.

Construction of a 250,000-square-foot building on nearly 26 acres at Commerce Crossing, the county’s newest industrial park, is on track to be completed in July, Snyder said.

“That a national developer of Al. Neyer’s reputation continues to find Westmoreland County an attractive fit tells us that not only do our location and robust industrial park system offer a great value, but that business leaders share the economic development vision of our county leaders,” said Jason Rigone, executive director of the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corp.

The county, through its Industrial Development Corp., operates 19 industrial parks that host 165 businesses and more than 8,600 employees.
