New Delhi, Aug 7 (PTI) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday met Sethuraman Panchanathan, Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF) of the US, on strengthening ties in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), space, agriculture and health. discussed.

The Finance Ministry informed about this meeting in several of its tweets. Accordingly, during the meeting, the two sides discussed areas of cooperation related to science and technology. Enhancement of cooperation in science and technology was discussed during the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden during the Quad Summit held in Tokyo last May.

“Both sides emphasized to enhance and strengthen mutual partnership in specific areas such as AI, Data Science, Quantum Computing, Space, Agriculture and Health,” the ministry said in its tweet.

Panchanathan indicated that several projects would soon be taken up under the six Technology Innovation Centers in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology.

Sitharaman talked about India’s achievement in promoting innovation through improvement of patent processes and advancement of appropriate technology in agriculture.
