Global cybersecurity Conference BlackHat amazed by HackersEra’s Vikash Chaudhary’s CAN Bus hacking research

By India Today Web Desk: Vikash Chaudhary, CEO of HackersEra, Indiaā€™s first vehicle PenTest company, was invited as a special speaker at the worldā€™s biggest three-day long annual cybersecurity and hacking convention organized by Black Hat Middle East and Africa (Black Hat MEA) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Chaudhary gave a detailed presentation on his latest research on automotive security tools for Can Bus Hacking called ā€˜HackersEra V1ā€™ to global cybersecurity experts and company owners from across the world.

HackersEra CEO Vikash Chaudhary said, "It was a great opportunity for me to give a detailed presentation to the global cybersecurity experts and industry leaders on the methodology and tool for the hacking of the CAN Bus in the automotive industry. We've given our one-of-a-kind tool a catchy nameā€”HackersEra V1ā€”because it's simple to use for CAN Bus security assessmentā€. During Riyadh Season each year, Saudi Arabia plays host to Black Hat MEA, formerly @HACK, at the three-day cybersecurity and hacking convention. It is one of the biggest gatherings of the global hacking and cybersecurity community. The Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones (SAFCSP) and Informa tech co-hosted the event in collaboration with the BlackHat Group. After years of research on automotive security and the development of the security tool for CAN Bus hacking, HackersEra's Vikash Chaudhary spoke on the topic ā€˜Methods of Attack for the pursuit of CAN Bus protocolā€™ at the BlackHat MEA conference.

Elaborating on the CAN Bus hacking, Chaudhary stated that the Controller Area Network bus (CAN bus) coordinates communication within a vehicle. That's important because the car uses electrical impulses for so many functions. The car has several features, such as door locks, a speedometer, fuel gauge, and buttons for the brakes and the accelerator. Some of these gadgets rely on this network for their communication needs. A controller area network was developed because vehicles are intricate machines with a large number of components that must communicate with one another.

The CAN Bus is a communication system in all vehicles, including those powered by conventional internal combustion engines and modern vehicles. Any device in the network can create a message in a standard format and transmit it sequentially. The device with the highest priority will proceed, while the low priority device will wait. Vikash then demonstrated his tools and showed how an attacker could use them to exploit it. HackersEra is in the advanced stage of developing new techniques and methodologies in the CAN Bus hacking arena. The company plans to integrate secure CAN bypassing techniques, CAN IDS bypassing methodologies, and UDS exploitation techniques, which will make HackersEra stand out in the automotive cybersecurity space in the world.

CAN Bus, according to Chaudhary, has various exploitation capabilities including CAN BUS Sniffing & Replay Attack, CAN Bus Reverse Engineering ā€“ Automation, CAN Bus Message Injection, Common CAN Fuzzing, Dynamic CAN Fuzzing, CAN BUS Load Attack, CAN DOS Attack, CAN BUS-OFF Attack, UDS Hard Reset, UDS Dump DIDS, UDS Fuzzing, UDS Dynamic Fuzzing, etc.
