This is a quick insight in my thesis which shows a research about my view on vulnerability, personal space, body language and erotic tension. In this thesis/book i will approach different angles of observation and provocation methods. The triangle between the photographer, model and camera. It originated from my graduation project "Closer". Which literally means coming closer. I meet new people in their envoirment. It underlines aspects like finding the right distance, voyeurism, looking and vulnerability. It shows how people react when they find themselves in an unusual private situation, being captured and how they are forced in a way to let go of control, making it an intimate situation. When two strangers meet they have to adjust.
When are we really vulnerable? How do we deal with personal space? When does it become too akward? Is there a pattern? In this book it is all about the subtle movements. Those pronounced seconds. The sequences. The transition from being tense to relaxed. I lose some kind of control in this process but it allows me to stay, and be something other then a mere spectator. The essential in the nature of the situation I provoke is the tension that is released beyond my control. When I enter the space of nudity, I see it more as a platform for our expressions or our fears, our passions, who we are. When there is trust, it opens an opportunity to truely connect.
